November 7th

The shareholders of COHE pay tribute to Dr. Parto Teherani-Krönner.

As a co-founder and long-standing member of our College in teaching and research, she has played a key role in developing our company and advancing our common goals.

Dr. Teherani-Krönner has made an extraordinary contribution to the curriculum, conferences and events. She was a dedicated promoter of human ecology and successfully developed the long tradition of Chicago human ecology with her contributions to cultural ecology, nutritional ecology and meal policy in teaching and research.

Dr. Parto Teherani-Krönner died after a serious illness, unexpectedly and far too early for us, on October 23, 2023. We will miss her advice and her energy very much.

Facing the Future - Human Ecology and Higher Education

The publication of selected European articles from the conference "Facing the Future - Human Ecology and Higher Education" is well advanced and is expected to appear in a special issue of Human Ecology Review in early 2024.

A further publication project with international contributions on the topic of the conference is in preparation.

European Human Ecology Network

The associates of the College support the conference's call for a European Human Ecology Network and have decided to actively support such initiatives with their resources. The College is organizing a series of virtual meetings in collaboration with Iva Pires, Head of the Human Ecology Master Program at Nova University Lisbon, and the Society for Human Ecology. The next meeting is planned for November and December 2023.

- Quite Recently -

 

Since December 12, 2022, the recordings of the presentations and contributions of the Potsdam Conference "Facing the Future - Human Ecology and Higher Education" are publicly available on our website as a virtual conference for a broad audience.

From August 31 to September 3, 2022, the international conference "Facing the Future: Human Ecology and Higher Education" took place in Potsdam live and online simultaneously.

Together with the Potsdam "Institute for Advanced Sustainable Studies" IASS and other partner organizations, we took a critical look at future higher education. We would like to sincerely thank everyone who participated in our conference and especially those who were still there on Saturday afternoon.

Press release of the COHE owners 2022, April 14th

 

The shareholders of COHE pay tribute to Dr. Klaus Markus Hofmann.

As a founder, shareholder and long-time co-managing director, he played a key role in shaping our company and collectively advancing our goals. Dr. Hofmann was a dedicated promoter of human ecology.

 

Dr. Hofmann left our company at the end of the year for health reasons. He died after a short serious illness, unexpectedly for us, on April 3, 2022. We will greatly miss his advice and drive.

On August 20, 2021, the international online program."Human Ecology - Basic Knowledge for Agents of Transition"

If required, we will be happy to offer online workshops, forums and seminars. We are looking forward to further contributions, lectures and presentations.

Volume 1 has been published by oekom-Verlag in the series of publications of the European College of Human Ecology.

demonstrates the experiences and results of a Berlin real world laboratory of human ecology. What must buildings, neighborhoods, cities and people be able to do in the future to withstand the challenges - to keep damage small and values large? What qualifications and competencies are needed to future-proof our structural-technical systems and our user behavior?

COHE members have addressed various topics on higher education in a dedicated session at the
XXIV International Conference of the Society for Human Ecology in Brazil, October 17-23, 2021.
and discussed them online with 60 connected participants.

COHE was involved in two new research projects.

DiDaT explores the unseens of digitization under the leadership of the IASS in Potsdam and concludes with the publication of a white paper in March 2021.

The wind-climate-cooling tower project picks up on the students' idea from the 2018 summer program.

A cooperation for a joint study program was agreed with Alanus University in Bonn-Alfter at the beginning of 2019. By the end of 2019, the draft for a master's degree program "Human Ecology" was developed.

On July 13, 2020, the directors of the university presented the draft for a new master's degree program "Human Ecology and Philosophy of Social Innovation" at Alanus University in Bonn-Alfter.

On May 21, 2020, the managing directors of the university presented the draft for a new Master's program "Human Ecology and Philosophy of Social Innovation" during a videoconference on the occasion of the annual conference of the German Society for Human Ecology.

The draft and further development of the MA program will be presented here.

The III. international summer program in Emmendingen "Urban Concepts in Sustainable Transition" has finished successful on 2018 August, 13th with the presentation of the results at the Volkshochschule nördlicher Breisgau in Emmendingen. An Exhibition shows the results during September 2018.

From 2018 July 7th to 10th the XXIII conference of the Society for Human Ecology will be held in Lisbon . The European College of Human Ecology, official co-sponsor of the conference, will held a special symposium about "New Directions in Higher Human Ecology Education".
